A MOTHER’S group for women craving depth
Ground into your transformation in the community of mothers and elders. The Matrescence Circle offers women in Marin County and beyond community, connection, and space to be witnessed in their rebirth as a mother — for the first or subsequent times.
sisterhood in motherhood — The Matrescence Circle
Being born into motherhood is an initiation. For millennia women were held, guided, and supported as they moved through this rite of passage. Modern motherhood has stripped us of the wisdom and community that this transformation requires in order to land sturdily in the role of mother. The Matrescence Circle revives it by intentionally gathering mothers in matrescence.
For mothers in the the midst of their becoming
The Matrescence Circle gathers women who have landed in motherhood for adults-only connection and nourishment. We support first-time mothers as they find their footing in their new identity and mothers of multiple children in the expansion of their role.

Our circles are adults-only* giving you space to reflect on what your matrescence is presenting while you nourish yourself with intentional motherhood connection and space to reclaim your energy.

We would love to meet and squeeze your baby, but — the work of processing and holding women through matrescence is deep and cathartic work that doesn’t lend itself well to interruption. For this reason, The Matrescence Circle is an adults-only offering. It’s an opportunity for women to step out of the act of mothering for 90-minutes to honor and process the work she does in that role.
Can I bring my baby?
What are the meeting times & dates?
The online circle meets on Thursday afternoons from 1-2:30 p.m. The in-person circle meets on Fridays from 1:30-3pm in my home in San Rafael. Meeting dates for each month are shared the month before.
What is a typical session like?
I welcome you to my home and the group with herbal tea. We start with grounding and a group check-in where each woman gets to share what is happening for her and feel supported and heard by the group. I bring a topic and prompt or exercise each week for further discussion and support. Sometimes we pull oracle cards and journal as well. We close with a short reflection on what the group wisdom offered us that week before parting ways.
Can I pause or cancel my membership?
Yes. Just email me two weeks before the end of the month to process a pause or cancellation.
Congratulations! The Matrescence Circle is for women who have landed on the other side of the baby’s birth. But if there is enough interest, I will open The Pregnancy Circle. Join the waitlist here to let me know you’d like to join.
I’m pregnant. Can I join?

Expertly guided by a certified matrescence doula & mother of 2
I’m Kate Seaton, a mom of two little girls and a matrescence doula in San Rafael, CA. I use my training as a matrescence guide, study of feminine and nature-based wisdom, and my own experiences in matrescence to offer women space to be heard, held, and supported in their transformation. It is my joy and honor to do so.
I’ve personally experienced and watched the transformation that comes from a matrescence rooted in a circle of women and offer my groups from the deep belief that holding space for women to gather and share – vulnerably and from their centers – is one of the most powerful ways to support mothers.
I open my living room to women moving through the sacred transition into motherhood with the goal of creating safe and sacred space for their unfolding. I offer forgotten feminine wisdom, empowering matrescence perspective, and open-minded and kind-hearted space to suppport your transformation.
